“When friends enter my home, their comments are focused on all the natural wood and fine cabinetry in the kitchen.  The very items I fell in love with in addition to the fact that the place was newly constructed – I felt I had the best of all worlds, wood floors you would expect to find in an older home, yet equipped with new appliances, heat pump and windows with screens – without holes! The duplex design compliments the other duplex apartment so that there is good privacy and very little noise. The home stays very warm when heated because of the efficient heat pump.  Summers are cool not only because of the A/C but also because of the shade.  Originally I was unfamiliar with the neighborhood, yet it’s very central to the city and quiet at the same time. I love my home.  As far as management goes, Jim is a very conscientious, environmentally conscious and responsive builder and owner.  I have owned several homes and found the constant upkeep and maintenance a challenge. I love being able to pick up the phone knowing that any problem will be taken care of quickly. Jim cares about his properties – he cares about the community that he has created through the homes he builds. I find him easy to talk to and problem solve with – he just takes it in stride. I am very grateful that I found this space!”

“We have truly enjoyed our experience living in one of Asheville Property Investment, LLC ‘s duplex apartments.  The apartment is beautiful. It has been wonderful moving into a new house that has new appliances, beautiful wood trim and wood floors. Jim has really put extra effort into making his houses feel like home. Jim has done well picking a good location for his duplexes – they are in a very convenient location close to downtown, West Asheville and Earth Fare.  All in all it is a good place to call home. Jim is a great person who is very attentive to his tenant’s needs.  We really appreciate that he has taken the time and effort to find the right people who compliment each other in the duplexes.   He is open to suggestions from his tenants and is quick to attend to any problems that arise in his homes. One great advantage is that Jim is the landlord and the builder – giving him the ability to really know his properties.  Jim will go out of his way for his tenants. For example, he Rotatilled a garden space for us and even put in compost and other nutrients to boost the soil and get it started.  Jim is the best landlord we have ever had!”

“I was a tenant of Jim Bartels and Asheville Property Investments, LLC for a little over two years.   Unfortunately I had to move back to Vermont for work related issues.   Things I considered when evaluating a landlord are: someone I can easily approach with questions about the property, someone who will not surprise me with a hidden agenda but will be upfront with me about expectations and who is responsible for what in our agreement. Most importantly, someone I can trust.  Jim certainly possesses these characteristics. Moving from  the state of Vermont, Jim went out of his way (which is his nature) to help me and my girlfriend get settled with the basic logistics of the new area. He made us feel comfortable and confident in contacting him anytime for questions about really anything on our minds whether it was about the house or where the best vegetarian cuisine was in town.  Because of his warm nature we quickly developed a respectful business relationship and friendship.  Jim is one of the few people you may meet who can talk about your landlord/tenant relationship yet not be intrusive but respect boundaries.  He values tenant privacy while making sure his tenants take care of his property.  Jim is the kind of landlord you will measure future landlords by and only hope you will be so lucky again.”
